Alchemy is more than the study of materials and processes. It is a framework of theory, terminology, experimental process and basic laboratory techniques that are still recognizable in modern society. Alchemy differs from modern science in the inclusion of Hermetic principles and practices related to mythology, magic, religion, and spirituality.

The alchemist on Avergene uses these practices in the making of potions, practices/rituals, and casting spells. The study of Alchemy is very similar to the practice of Witch Craft in that the purpose is to invoke powers either natural or super natural.

There may be some similarity to Pharmakeia but the two practices are at best complimentary.

The Skill provides the practitioner a basic understanding of the Elements and Compounds that form the basis of the practice.

Additionally the skill is used in replacement of the Wizard Magic skill for making of potions, practices/rituals, and casting Alchemical spells.

The magic of the Alchemist is the ability to:

  • Transform materials
  • Invoke properties of the elements
  • Create chemical reactions (where the reaction is a natural reaction of mixing elements)
  • Cure disease (bilogical in nature)
  • Neutralize Poison
  • Release and control dangerous substances

Some common creations of alchemists are:

  • Bombs
  • Fogs
  • Purification compounds (e.g purify water)

Learning Alchemy Processes
Alchemical Processes are found, purchased, or discovered. Players may buy a perc when their characters are created. For each 1pt in the perk your character knows processes totaling 30 APs.
